Our carbon footprint
Carbon footprint is the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused directly or indirectly by an individual or organization during production of goods. It is mostly expressed as a carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalent or tons of CO2. Orthex aims for its production to be carbon neutral by 2030.
Mass Balance
Bio-based plastics
Bio-based plastics are plastic materials made in whole or partially from renewable resources. Biomass used can stem from e.g. corn, sugarcane or cellulose. Bio-based plastics reduce our dependency on limited fossil resources and have a significantly smaller carbon footprint than fossil-fuel plastics.
The Environment
Environmental responsibility is important for us and we actively promote sustainability in all of our actions throughout the production and supply chains. The products we manufacture are of the highest quality and meant to last for years and even decades.
The use of recycled material in production
We have been using a material made from industrial plastic waste in the production of buckets, bins and boxes for example since the 1990’s. In 2015 we also started to utilize post-consumer plastic waste in the production.
Product Safety
Product safety is the most important cornerstone in our way of working and manufacturing. All of our products made from traditional plastic are BPA-free and don't contain phthalates. We are proud to stand behind our product motto: "Safe, Smart and Tested".
BPA-free plastic, a safe choice
Orthex Group guarantees that all of our products marked with a food approval symbol are free of BPA and phthalates. Everything is tested regularly, both at independent test laboratories and through function tests according to the strictest quality requirements.
Responsible plastic
The responsible use of plastics does not mean giving up plastics. Modern technological solutions make it possible for consumers´ plastic waste to be processed into new raw-material and given a new life, in a different form.
ISO Certification
Orthex Group achieves the brand new version of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system certification. This means that today Orthex is even more environmentally conscious than before. The auditors especially appreciated the freshly published CSR Report as well as the thorough environmental assessment that was done in each site.
Employee Well-being
We are committed to continuously developing our employees' competence, showing respect and promoting health and safety. Health and safety issues are particularly important in our factories.
